My name is Doug and I am the owner of the Cymru Fitness Professionals, and I want to share with you why I chose this name for the store.
My grandfather Charlie made great sacrifices for me and my family by emigrating from the country of Wales to the United States in the early part of the 20th century. My dad told me stories about my Grandfather and I am so grateful.
The name “Cymru” is the name of Wales in the Welsh language. My dad told me that one of his favorite phrases is “Cymru am byth”, which means “Forever Wales”. The word Cymru is pronounced 'come-ree' phonetically and literally means 'the people' or 'fellow countrymen'.
The store logo is the Red Dragon, which is the heraldic symbol of Wales incorporated into the Welsh national flag.
I named the store in honor of my grandfather Charlie.
